This design is fully discrete and transformer-coupled, using through-hole component topology. Indeed, the four channels each feature custom-wound Altran USA input and output transformers. As a result, you get smooth, high-quality sound that will elevate your recordings.

In fact, the WA-412 is more than just a tribute to a classic. It also offers a discrete X520 socketed op-amp per channel, which can be swapped out for most 6-pin, discrete op-amps. During use, you’ll find 65dB of gain available, and there's even a 20dB pad for both mic and instrument inputs. To clarify, this means the WA-412 works with a wide range of sources, from vocals to instruments.
Versatility in Every Detail
However, what truly sets the Warm Audio WA-412 apart is its versatility. You have multiple input options: microphone (XLR) and active instrument direct injection (1/4”). Likewise, the outputs include transformer-balanced XLR and TRS, making connections easy. The Tone button changes the impedance, shifting the sound from 600 ohms to 150 ohms, and there’s phantom power on each channel. Therefore, every session can be tailored perfectly to your needs.
