What tuning does the Takamine JJ325SRCL-12 use?
Standard 12-string tuning. Each of the six notes, E-A-D-G-B-E, is played by a pair of strings. On the lower four pairs the second string is tuned an octave higher, and the two highest pairs are tuned in unison.
Is the JJ325SRCL-12 a solid-wood guitar?
The top is solid spruce, which is the part of the guitar that matters most for tone and projection. The back and sides are Wonder Rosewood, and the neck is mahogany.
Can I plug the JJ325SRCL-12 into an amp or PA?
Yes. It is an acoustic-electric with a Takamine CTF-2N preamp, which gives you low, high and volume controls and a built-in chromatic tuner, so you can plug straight into an amp or PA.
Does the JJ325SRCL-12 have a cutaway?
Yes. The JJ325SRCL-12 is a Dreadnought Cutaway model, which makes the upper frets easier to reach.
Is a 12-string harder to play than a 6-string?
A little. Twelve strings mean more tension on your fretting hand and a bit more finger strength to get clean chords, and the nut here is 47.6 mm (1.87 in) wide, wider than a typical 6-string, so your fingers have more room. What is the difference between the Takamine JJ325SRCL-12 and the P3DC-12?
The JJ325SRCL-12 has a solid spruce top, Wonder Rosewood back and sides, a gloss stain finish and the CTF-2N preamp. The P3DC-12 has a solid cedar top, solid sapele back, a natural satin finish and the CT4B II preamp. Both are 12-string dreadnought cutaways with a mahogany neck and a rosewood fingerboard.
