Description
Takamine GN71CE BSB NEX Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar with a solid spruce top, black walnut back and sides, a mahogany neck, a bound laurel fingerboard, and a Gloss Brown Sunburst finish.
I've been playing guitar for over 30 years. I started as a studio musician in Los Angeles, and now I run Terry Carter Music Store and a music education platform that has taught thousands of students how to play.
Takamine's NEX body is compact but big-sounding. The GN71CE pairs it with a solid spruce top and black walnut back and sides for a rich, detailed sound, and the full TK-40D stage preamp keeps it ready for any room.

What tuning does the Takamine GN71CE use?
Standard guitar tuning, E-A-D-G-B-E from the lowest string to the highest.
Is the GN71CE a solid-wood guitar?
The top is solid spruce, which is the part of the guitar that matters most for tone and projection. The back and sides are black walnut, and the neck is mahogany.
Can I plug the GN71CE into an amp or PA?
Yes. It is an acoustic-electric with a Takamine TK-40D preamp, which gives you a built-in tuner, three-band EQ, gain control, mid contour switch, notch filter, and EQ bypass switch, so you can plug straight into an amp or PA.
Does the GN71CE have a cutaway?
Yes. The GN71CE is a NEX Cutaway model, which makes the upper frets easier to reach.
Is the GN71CE right-handed or left-handed?
This listing is the right-handed GN71CE BSB. Takamine also makes left-handed versions of some models, and we list those separately where available.
Does the GN71CE come with a case?
No. Takamine does not include a case with the GN71CE. The compatible case is the Takamine CTAKSH200A semi-hard case, which is sold separately.
What is the difference between the Takamine GN71CE BSB and the GN71CE NAT?
The GN71CE BSB and the GN71CE NAT are the same guitar, a NEX cutaway with a solid spruce top, black walnut back and sides, a mahogany neck, and the TK-40D preamp. The only difference is the finish: Gloss Brown Sunburst versus Gloss Natural.
