Description
Takamine GC5CE Classical Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar with a fan-braced solid spruce top, black walnut back and sides, a mahogany neck, a laurel fingerboard, and a gloss natural finish.
I've been playing guitar for over 30 years. I started as a studio musician in Los Angeles, and now I run Terry Carter Music Store and a music education platform that has taught thousands of students how to play.
With deluxe appointments, solid-top construction, a Venetian-style cutaway, and Takamine electronics, the GC5CE is an acoustic-electric classical guitar built to bring your music center stage. A fan-braced solid spruce top over black walnut back and sides gives it warm, rich nylon-string sound.

Common questions
What tuning does the Takamine GC5CE use?
Standard guitar tuning, E-A-D-G-B-E from the lowest string to the highest.
Is the GC5CE a solid-wood guitar?
The top is solid spruce, which is the part of the guitar that matters most for tone and projection. The back and sides are black walnut, and the neck is mahogany.
Does the GC5CE use nylon or steel strings?
Nylon. It is a classical guitar with a 50.8 mm (2.00 in) nut, wider than a steel-string guitar, which gives your fingers more room between the strings.
Can I plug the GC5CE into an amp or PA?
Yes. It is an acoustic-electric with a Takamine TP-4T preamp, which gives you a built-in tuner with three-band EQ and gain controls, so you can plug straight into an amp or PA.
Does the GC5CE have a cutaway?
Yes. The GC5CE is a Classical Cutaway model, which makes the upper frets easier to reach.
Does the GC5CE come with a case?
No. Takamine does not include a case with the GC5CE. The compatible case is the Takamine CTAKSH300A semi-hard case, which is sold separately.
What is the difference between the Takamine GC5CE and the GC5?
The GC5CE has a Venetian-style cutaway and the onboard TP-4T preamp. The GC5 has no cutaway and no onboard electronics. Both are classical guitars with a fan-braced solid spruce top, black walnut back and sides, a mahogany neck, and a laurel fingerboard.
