Description
Takamine GC1 LH Left-Handed Classical Nylon-String Guitar with a fan-braced spruce top, sapele back and sides, a mahogany neck, a laurel fingerboard, and a gloss natural finish.
I've been playing guitar for over 30 years. I started as a studio musician in Los Angeles, and now I run Terry Carter Music Store and a music education platform that has taught thousands of students how to play.
Left-handed players deserve the same great guitars. The GC1 LH is an attractive classical guitar built to give left-handed players beautiful nylon-string sound at an approachable price. A fan-braced spruce top over sapele back and sides, a dovetail neck joint, an inlaid mosaic rosette, and chrome tuners with white pearl buttons give it a traditional look and feel.

Standard guitar tuning, E-A-D-G-B-E from the lowest string to the highest.
Is the GC1 LH a solid-wood guitar?
The top is fan-braced spruce, which is not described as solid. The back and sides are sapele, and the neck is mahogany.
Is the GC1 LH left-handed?
Yes. This listing is the left-handed GC1 LH, built for left-handed players. The right-handed version is listed separately where available.
Does the GC1 LH use nylon or steel strings?
Nylon. It is a classical guitar with a 50.8 mm (2.00 in) nut, wider than a steel-string guitar, which gives your fingers more room between the strings.
Does the GC1 LH have onboard electronics?
No. The GC1 LH is an acoustic-only guitar with no pickup or preamp. If you want to plug into an amp or PA, look at the GC1CE LH, the electric version.
Does the GC1 LH come with a case?
No. Takamine does not include a case with the GC1 LH. The compatible case is the Takamine CTAKSH300A semi-hard case, which is sold separately.
What is the difference between the Takamine GC1 LH and the GC5 LH?
The GC1 LH has a fan-braced spruce top and sapele back and sides. The GC5 LH has a fan-braced solid spruce top and black walnut back and sides, with gold tuners. Both are left-handed classical guitars with a mahogany neck and a laurel fingerboard.
