Description
Takamine GC1 NAT Classical Nylon-String Guitar with a fan-braced spruce top, sapele back and sides, a mahogany neck, a laurel fingerboard, and a Gloss Natural finish.
I've been playing guitar for over 30 years. I started as a studio musician in Los Angeles, and now I run Terry Carter Music Store and a music education platform that has taught thousands of students how to play.
The Takamine GC1 is an attractive classical guitar built to deliver a balanced nylon-string sound at an approachable price. A fan-braced spruce top over sapele back and sides, a dovetail neck joint, an inlaid mosaic rosette, and chrome tuners with pearl buttons give it a traditional look and feel.

Standard guitar tuning, E-A-D-G-B-E from the lowest string to the highest.
Does the GC1 use nylon or steel strings?
Nylon. The GC1 is a classical guitar with a 50.8 mm (2.00 in) nut, wider than a steel-string guitar, which gives your fingers more room between the strings.
What is the GC1 made of?

Does the GC1 have onboard electronics?
No. The GC1 is an acoustic-only guitar with no pickup or preamp. If you want to plug into an amp or PA, look at GC1CE, the electric version.
Is the GC1 right-handed or left-handed?
This listing is the right-handed GC1 NAT. Takamine also makes a left-handed GC1, and we list it separately where available.
Does the GC1 come with a case?
No. Takamine does not include a case with the GC1. The compatible case is the Takamine CTAKSH300A semi-hard case, which is sold separately.
What is the difference between the Takamine GC1 NAT and the GC3 NAT?
The GC1 has a fan-braced spruce top and sapele back and sides. The GC3 has a solid cedar top and mahogany back and sides. Both are classical nylon-string guitars with a mahogany neck, a laurel fingerboard, and a Gloss Natural finish.
