Description

Crossrock CRW720BJ Wood Master Series Resonator Banjo Case - Malachite-Blue

The Crossrock CRW720BJMB is the Master Series wood case for 5-string resonator banjos, wrapped in malachite blue faux-tweed with brown espresso trim and lined in gold plush. A 7-ply hardwood shell, an arched top, and 20 mm of high-density foam make it the top of Crossrock's wooden banjo case line.

What makes the CRW720 shell and padding stronger?

Crossrock builds the shell from seven cross-laminated layers of high-density hardwood rather than the 3- or 5-ply construction used in most wooden cases, so impact force spreads across the shell instead of along one grain line. The arched top resists downward load and adds clearance above the bridge. Inside, 20 mm of closed-cell foam, about double the 10 mm typical of wooden banjo cases, sits under a 900g deep plush, and the banjo is suspended in that cushioning rather than resting on the shell. Thick metal plates reinforce every latch, hinge, and foot so the hardware stays tight.

Common questions

Will my resonator banjo fit the CRW720BJ?

It's shaped for 5-string resonator banjos. The interior is 40.55" long with a 14.17" body diameter, 4.125" of depth at the rim, and 5.90" at the bridge, so measure your banjo's pot and overall length against those numbers.

Can I use it for an openback banjo?

It's built around a resonator banjo's pot. For openback banjos, look at the Crossrock CRW620OBJ openback banjo case instead.

Will the lining stain a nitrocellulose finish?

Crossrock treats every fabric inside the CRW720, from the deep plush to the neck cradle, with a high-grade color fixation process so the dye won't migrate onto a delicate nitro or vintage finish.

How does it handle rain?

The faux-tweed exterior has a PVC water-resistant layer bonded to its underside, so water stops before it reaches the wood shell. Brass rivets on the bottom also lift the case slightly off a wet or dirty floor.

How is the CRW720 different from the Crossrock CRW620BJ?

The CRW720 is Crossrock's Master Series banjo case, with a 7-ply hardwood shell, 20 mm foam, 900g plush, and a faux-tweed exterior. Crossrock's Standard Series CRW620 cases are covered in PVC leatherette instead.
