Description
Walden D552E Natura 500 Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar with a solid spruce top, mahogany back and sides, a rosewood fingerboard, and an open pore satin natural finish.
I've been playing guitar for over 30 years. I started as a studio musician in Los Angeles, and now I run Terry Carter Music Store and a music education platform that has taught thousands of students how to play.
Distilled to the essence of what a great guitar should be, the 500 series guitar is the most affordable entry into the Natura line. Bookmatched, quartersawn soundboards from the Pacific Northwest provide the richness and tone found only in a Low-Mass braced solid top. The D552E is a Natura 500 Dreadnought guitar with a solid spruce top and mahogany back and sides, and Walden MG-20 active electronics with onboard tuner for plugging in. It comes with a Walden gig bag.

Common questions
What tuning does the Walden D552E use?
Standard 12-string tuning. Each of the six notes, E-A-D-G-B-E, is played by a pair of strings. On the lower four pairs the second string is tuned an octave higher, and the two highest pairs are tuned in unison.
Is the D552E a solid-wood guitar?
The top is solid spruce, which is the part of the guitar that matters most for tone and projection. The back and sides are mahogany.
Can I plug the D552E into an amp or PA?
Yes. It has Walden MG-20 active electronics with onboard tuner, so you can plug straight into an amp or PA.
Does the D552E have a cutaway?
No. The D552E is a Dreadnought model without a cutaway.
Is a 12-string harder to play than a 6-string?
A little. Twelve strings mean more tension on your fretting hand and a bit more finger strength to get clean chords. Most players get comfortable within a few weeks. If you are new to guitar, the included Rock Like The Pros membership walks you through the fundamentals.
Does the D552E come with a case?
It comes with a Walden gig bag. It does not include a hard case.
What is the difference between the Walden D552E and the D550E?
The D552E is a Dreadnought with a solid spruce top, mahogany back and sides, 12 strings and Walden MG-20 active electronics with onboard tuner. The D550E is a Dreadnought with a solid spruce top, mahogany back and sides and Walden MG-20 active electronics with onboard tuner.
