Description
Takamine GY93 NAT New Yorker Acoustic Guitar with a solid spruce top, a three-piece black walnut and quilt maple back with black walnut sides, a mahogany neck, a bound laurel fingerboard, and a Gloss Natural finish.
I've been playing guitar for over 30 years. I started as a studio musician in Los Angeles, and now I run Terry Carter Music Store and a music education platform that has taught thousands of students how to play.
Featuring Takamine's parlor-style New Yorker body, the petite GY93 has a solid spruce top and a three-piece black walnut and quilt maple back with black walnut sides, giving it an upscale feel and a distinctive sound in a compact shape that is comfortable to hold.

Common questions
What tuning does the Takamine GY93 use?
Standard guitar tuning, E-A-D-G-B-E from the lowest string to the highest.
Is the GY93 a solid-wood guitar?
The top is solid spruce, which is the part of the guitar that matters most for tone and projection. The back is a three-piece black walnut and quilt maple, the sides are black walnut, and the neck is mahogany.
Does the GY93 have onboard electronics?
No. The GY93 is an acoustic-only guitar with no pickup or preamp. If you want to plug into an amp or PA, look at GY93E, the electric version.
Can I plug the GY93 into an amp?
Not as it comes, because there is no pickup or preamp. You would need to add an aftermarket pickup, or choose the GY93E, which has onboard electronics.
Is the GY93 right-handed or left-handed?
This listing is the right-handed GY93 NAT. Takamine also makes left-handed versions of some models, and we list those separately where available.
Does the GY93 come with a case?
No. Takamine does not include a case with the GY93. The compatible case is the Takamine CTAKSH400A semi-hard case, which is sold separately.
What is the difference between the Takamine GY93 NAT and the GY93E?
The GY93E is the same New Yorker body with the Takamine TK-40D preamp (built-in tuner, three-band EQ, gain control, mid contour switch, notch filter, and EQ bypass switch). The GY93 has no onboard electronics. Both have a solid spruce top and a three-piece black walnut and quilt maple back.
