Takamine GX31CE NS Mini-NEX Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Travel Guitar with a solid spruce top, sapele back and sides, a mahogany neck, a laurel fingerboard, and a natural satin finish.
I've been playing guitar for over 30 years. I started as a studio musician in Los Angeles, and now I run Terry Carter Music Store and a music education platform that has taught thousands of students how to play.
The GX31CE is designed for exceptional portability without compromising Takamine's renowned tone. This compact travel guitar has a solid spruce top over sapele back and sides, a cutaway for upper-fret access, and the TP-3G preamp, and a Takamine gig bag is included.

Common questions
What tuning does the Takamine GX31CE NS use?
Standard guitar tuning, E-A-D-G-B-E from the lowest string to the highest.
Is the GX31CE NS a solid-wood guitar?
The top is solid spruce, which is the part of the guitar that matters most for tone and projection. The back and sides are sapele, and the neck is mahogany.
Can I plug the GX31CE NS into an amp or PA?
Yes. It is an acoustic-electric with a Takamine TP-3G preamp, so you can plug straight into an amp or PA.
Does the GX31CE NS have a cutaway?
Yes. The GX31CE NS is a Mini-NEX Cutaway model, which makes the upper frets easier to reach.
What does travel-sized mean on the GX31CE?
The GX31CE has a 570 mm (22.44 in) scale length, shorter than the 644 mm (25.35 in) scale on a full-size Takamine, so the whole guitar is smaller and easier to carry.

What is the difference between the Takamine GX31CE NS and the GX11ME NS?
