Description
Takamine GN51CE NAT NEX Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar with a solid spruce top, black walnut back and sides, a mahogany neck, a bound laurel fingerboard, and a Gloss Natural finish.
I've been playing guitar for over 30 years. I started as a studio musician in Los Angeles, and now I run Terry Carter Music Store and a music education platform that has taught thousands of students how to play.
Takamine's NEX body is shallower and more compact than a dreadnought, which many players find more comfortable to hold for long sessions while still delivering a full acoustic sound. The GN51CE adds a solid spruce top and onboard electronics for the stage.

Common questions
What tuning does the Takamine GN51CE use?
Standard guitar tuning, E-A-D-G-B-E from the lowest string to the highest.
Is the GN51CE a solid-wood guitar?
The top is solid spruce, which is the part of the guitar that matters most for tone and projection. The back and sides are black walnut, and the neck is mahogany.
Can I plug the GN51CE into an amp or PA?
Yes. It is an acoustic-electric with a Takamine TP-4TD preamp, which gives you a built-in tuner, three-band EQ, and gain control, so you can plug straight into an amp or PA.
Does the GN51CE have a cutaway?
Yes. The GN51CE is a NEX Cutaway model, which makes the upper frets easier to reach.
Is the GN51CE right-handed or left-handed?
This listing is the right-handed GN51CE NAT. Takamine also makes left-handed versions of some models, and we list those separately where available.
Does the GN51CE come with a case?
No. Takamine does not include a case with the GN51CE. The compatible case is the Takamine CTAKSH200A semi-hard case, which is sold separately.
What is the difference between the Takamine GN51CE and the GN93CE?
The GN51CE has a black walnut back and sides and the TP-4TD preamp (tuner, three-band EQ, gain). The GN93CE has a three-piece black walnut and quilt maple back, maple binding, and the more advanced TK-40D preamp, which adds a mid contour switch, notch filter, and EQ bypass. Both have a solid spruce top and a bound laurel fingerboard.
