Description
Takamine GC3CE Classical Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar with a fan-braced solid cedar top, mahogany back and sides, a mahogany neck, a laurel fingerboard, and a gloss natural finish.
I've been playing guitar for over 30 years. I started as a studio musician in Los Angeles, and now I run Terry Carter Music Store and a music education platform that has taught thousands of students how to play.
The GC3CE is a stage-worthy acoustic-electric classical guitar with solid-top construction, a soft Venetian-style cutaway, and a superior-sounding Takamine electronics system. A fan-braced solid cedar top over mahogany back and sides produces a rich, resonant sound.

Common questions
What tuning does the Takamine GC3CE use?
Standard guitar tuning, E-A-D-G-B-E from the lowest string to the highest.
Is the GC3CE a solid-wood guitar?
The top is solid cedar, which is the part of the guitar that matters most for tone and projection. The back and sides are mahogany, and the neck is mahogany.
Does the GC3CE use nylon or steel strings?
Nylon. It is a classical guitar with a 50.8 mm (2.00 in) nut, wider than a steel-string guitar, which gives your fingers more room between the strings.
Can I plug the GC3CE into an amp or PA?
Yes. It is an acoustic-electric with a Takamine TP-4T preamp, which gives you a built-in tuner with three-band EQ and gain controls, so you can plug straight into an amp or PA.
Does the GC3CE have a cutaway?
Yes. The GC3CE is a Classical Cutaway model, which makes the upper frets easier to reach.
Does the GC3CE come with a case?
No. Takamine does not include a case with the GC3CE. The compatible case is the Takamine CTAKSH300A semi-hard case, which is sold separately.
What is the difference between the Takamine GC3CE and the GC5CE?
Both are classical cutaways with a fan-braced solid top, a mahogany neck, a laurel fingerboard, and the TP-4T preamp. The GC3CE has a solid cedar top with mahogany back and sides and chrome tuners, and the GC5CE has a solid spruce top with black walnut back and sides and gold tuners.
