Description
Takamine GC2 Classical Nylon-String Guitar with a fan-braced spruce top, sapele back and sides, a mahogany neck, a laurel fingerboard, and a gloss black finish.
I've been playing guitar for over 30 years. I started as a studio musician in Los Angeles, and now I run Terry Carter Music Store and a music education platform that has taught thousands of students how to play.
The GC2 is an attractive classical acoustic guitar built to deliver beautiful nylon-string sound, an excellent choice for any player seeking an affordable classical guitar that performs well above its price tag. A fan-braced spruce top over sapele back and sides gives it a full, balanced sound, and the gloss black finish sets it apart.

Common questions
What tuning does the Takamine GC2 use?
Standard guitar tuning, E-A-D-G-B-E from the lowest string to the highest.
Is the GC2 a solid-wood guitar?
The top is fan-braced spruce, which is not described as solid. The back and sides are sapele, and the neck is mahogany.
Does the GC2 use nylon or steel strings?
Nylon. It is a classical guitar with a 50.8 mm (2.00 in) nut, wider than a steel-string guitar, which gives your fingers more room between the strings.
Does the GC2 have onboard electronics?
No. The GC2 is an acoustic-only guitar with no pickup or preamp. If you want to plug into an amp or PA, look at the GC2CE, the electric version.
Does the GC2 come with a case?
No. Takamine does not include a case with the GC2. The compatible case is the Takamine CTAKSH300A semi-hard case, which is sold separately.
What is the difference between the Takamine GC2 and the GC2CE?
Both are classical guitars with a fan-braced spruce top, sapele back and sides, a mahogany neck, a laurel fingerboard, and a gloss black finish. The GC2 is acoustic only, and the GC2CE adds a Venetian-style cutaway and the onboard TP-4T preamp.
