Description
The KoAloha KTM-00MG Solid Mango Tenor Ukulele is a tenor ukulele made in Hawaii with a solid mango top, back and sides and a high-gloss finish.
What is the KoAloha KTM-00MG made of?
The KoAloha KTM-00MG has a solid mango top, back and sides with a high-gloss finish and single-piece sidewall construction. It has a CNC-shaped mahogany neck, an ebony fretboard and bridge, and a TUSQ nut and saddle. The headstock is KoAloha's 5-pointed crown with a thinlam Paua logo, the fret markers are Paua, and the soundhole is KoAloha's patented "Musubi" design.
What size is the KoAloha KTM-00MG and how is it tuned?
The KoAloha KTM-00MG is a tenor ukulele, 26.75 inches long overall, with a 17.25-inch scale length and a 1.5-inch nut width. It uses KoAloha fluorocarbon strings tuned G-C-E-A with an unwound low G and has premium KoAloha geared tuners.
What does MG mean on the KoAloha KTM-00MG?
In Terry Carter's review, the KTM-00 is KoAloha's standard koa tenor, and the MG at the end of the model number marks the mango version. The KoAloha KTM-00MG has a high-gloss finish, and the satin-finish mango tenor is the KTM-10MG Pikake.
What does the KoAloha KTM-00MG sound like and who is it for?
In his review of the KTM-00MG, Terry Carter describes the sound as warm, big and full, and says mango generally has a warm sound. He says the mango combined with KoAloha's koa bracing gives a big, warm sound, and he plays it both fingerpicked and strummed. He also points out the variation in colour and curl in the solid mango top, sides and back, which differs from one ukulele to the next.
How is the KoAloha KTM-00MG different from older KoAloha models?
In Terry Carter's review, this is one of KoAloha's newer designs: the neck joins the body at the 14th fret, because KoAloha moved the neck down a little compared with earlier models. He also notes that KoAloha had not made mango ukuleles for about three years before this model returned.
Will I receive the exact ukulele in the photos?
Yes. Each KoAloha KTM-00MG we list is photographed individually, so the ukulele you choose under "Your ukulele" is the instrument shown in its photos. Solid mango varies in grain and colour from one ukulele to the next.
