A 3/4 bass generally suits most adults and older teenagers, which is usually a height of 5 ft 7 in and over. Sizing follows the player's height and reach rather than age alone, so measure before choosing.
Upright bass sizes run, smallest to largest: 1/4, 1/2, and 3/4 — 3/4 is the standard full size for an upright bass.
This is the largest size. The next size down is a 1/2 bass.
