International ʻUkulele Festival of Hawaiʻi

A Cultural Legacy in Song

Since its inception in 2009, the International ʻUkulele Festival of Hawaiʻi (formerly known as the ʻUkulele Picnic in Hawaiʻi) has blossomed into a global celebration of music, peace, and cultural exchange. Founded with the goal of connecting Japan and Hawaiʻi through the joyful sound of the ʻukulele, the festival now stands as a cherished tradition that bridges continents and generations.

In 2024, the event marked its 15th anniversary with a new name and renewed energy—solidifying its place as one of the premier ʻukulele gatherings in the world.

The Festival Experience

Set against the stunning backdrop of Kapiʻolani Park in Honolulu, the festival welcomes musicians, families, and fans of all ages to bask in the beauty of Hawaiian music and aloha spirit. It’s more than just a concert—it’s an experience. Visitors can enjoy live performances by artists from Hawaiʻi, Japan, and beyond; explore booths featuring handmade ʻukuleles and local crafts; and savor diverse island flavors from the on-site food vendors.

The event also includes performances by local keiki (children) ʻukulele groups and hula dancers, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere that celebrates community and culture.
