What is the Royal Mango Pikake?
The KoAloha Royal Mango Pikake KTM-10RPMG Tenor Ukuleles are one of a kind instruments that have Premium Solid Mango in Satin Finish, Satin Ebony Headplate, KoAloha 5 Point Reverse Crown at end of the Ebony Fretboard, and Upgraded Premium KoAloha Geared Tuners.
Why is a Satin finish so important? There are 2 reasons:
First, the mango wood chosen for the Royal Mango Pikake ukes has to have extraordinary wood grain. Ukes that have a high gloss finish can hide or buff out imperfections but the Royal Mango Pikakes satin finish does not allow you hide the imperfections in the wood grain. The Royal Mango Pikakes have a cleaner and nicer looking wood grain.
Second, satin finish allows the ukulele sing. It it believed that the high gloss finish, although it looks great, can "suffocate" the sound of the wood. The satin finish of the Royal Mango Pikakes allow the wood to breathe and creates a purer and more magical tone.
