When I first opened my online store, store.ukelikethepros.com I carried all the lines of the Kala UBass. Although they did sell pretty well I stopped stocking them.
BUT, because so many of you have asked for it I have brought back the Kala U-Bass including my favorite model, the Striped Ebony EBY-FS.
If your new to the UBASS, it is a bass the size of a baritone ukulele (20 Inch Scale Length) and tuned E-A-D-G (just like a standard bass).
I remember years ago when I first saw these Kala U-Basses, I was doing a gig and the bass player had one and I thought it was so unique and so COOL.
I loved the sound and the feel of the Road Toad Pahoehoe strings, these are the big and thick rubber ones. Although not everyone is a fan of these strings (I do also carry the EBY-FS-RW which is the same Kala U-Bass but with round wound strings), I really dig these strings. They are easy to play, easy on the hands and have a mellow and big FAT sound.
Although these Kala U-Bass EBY-FS are tuned like a traditional bass (E-A-D-G) but the small size makes they very approachable for the ukulele player or the bass player that wants a portable bass that doesn't sacrifice tone or feel.
If you're ready to take your group and your individual ukulele playing to a higher standard, then you are ready for the Kala Striped Ebony U-BASS. Fun to play when alone practicing or performing and just a whole lot more fun to add to a jam.
The beautiful Striped Ebony U-BASS has a deep brown color with reddish-brown striping. The Maple binding creates a striking contrast with the Ebony body, helping the striping stand out. The Shadow U-BASS NFX built in pickup and tuner just make the sound huge.

* CUSTOM SETUP - Each Kala comes with a factory setup BUT if you are particular about your setups, have arthritis, or want the easiest playability with low action (how close the strings are to the fretboard) please click the "ADD Custom Setup" on this page.
